A glass of wine and a small plate. That’s the test. When I’m looking to add to the list of places that I’ll bring friends and family when they visit me in Montréal, that’s the test. Pictured above is a glass of wine and the ceviche at Buvette Pompette, which I’m pleased to report is on the “yes, let’s go” list. I’m not alone in that view — they made it to the top of a recent “best wine bars” list as well.
Good food and good wine are a must, of course, but that isn’t enough to make it on the list. When friends and family visit, we are equipped with everything we need, chez moi, for a good time to be had by all, believe me. So … when I do reconnaissance around town, running the small plate and glass of wine test, the room where I’m sitting the exam, so to speak, also matters (how it looks, feels, sounds). And don’t forget the host(s). They can make it or break it … at least for me.
Because this is where I’m looking to bring friends and family, don’t forget.
So … being on the “yes, let’s go” list means that when trouble comes to town … you may be able to find us one afternoon or evening at Buvette Pompette.
