Okay, we’re in the home stretch of winter here in Montréal (as elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere). Yes, yes, the vernal equinox approaches — on March 20th at 5:01 in the morning, spring will officially have sprung.
I’m ready for it. Not to say that I don’t appreciate winter. There is lots to love about all four seasons in Canada, I think. After decades of living through the hot and warm and cold of Canadian weather, it’s the change of season, the differences between the seasons, that get me a little excited, every time, even after all these years.
March 20th at 5:01 in the morning — I think I’ll set my alarm to wake me up at that minute of that hour of that day. It’s earlier than I usually wake up, but hey, the vernal equinox comes just once a year. I will be there, eyes and spring spirit open, to greet it.
P.S. The photo above was taken earlier this month at the Société des arts technologiques, looking out onto the terrasse, at about hour 14 of 24 hours of vinyl, one of my favourite annual events, part of Nuit Blanche in Montréal, which rounds out winter every year, just before spring is sprung.
