Is the May long weekend the best long weekend of the year in Canada? Quite possibly, according to the opening editorial that arrived in my email this morning for the Canadian edition of The Conversation — “academic rigour, journalistic flair” is their tag line (check it out, it’s also available en français). I am biased in favour of the May long weekend because my birthday falls during or shortly after it. Thanks, mom and dad, for that one (among many other things).
I always take the day off work for my birthday. This year, I’m taking the work week off, which translates to nine days that belong to me more than is usually the case. Gift to self, and all that, because sometimes, you know, you just need to take a beat.
The start to this long weekend, these nine days, for me, quite literally, is all about beats, with Tap Water Jam at Le Centre Phi in Montréal. I went for the first time last year and it was so good, such fun, that they have me as an admirer for life, I expect (see the TapWaterJam_Mtl insta account, to find out more and if you ever have the chance to get a ticket to one of their events, go, absolutely, go).
Coast to coast to coast, here in Canada, this May long weekend, please permit me to play the Gemini card and wish you twice the fun as any other long weekend 🙂
